Advertising and affiliate policy

Some articles on the Piemags Aviation Journal carry links that earn us a commission. This page says exactly which, exactly how they are marked, and what we will not do with them.

Who we have an arrangement with

As at 28 August 2026 there is one: Wex Photo Video, a UK camera retailer, through the Impact affiliate network. If you follow one of those links and buy something, Wex pays us a small percentage of the sale. The price you pay is the same either way.

If that list changes, this page changes with it.

How the links are marked

Two cases, and they are handled differently.

Where an article exists because of the products in it, such as a buying guide, the word Ad appears in the page title, so it is visible in search results before you click, and a notice sits at the top of the article above the first link.

Where an article is ordinary editorial that happens to name a product, the notice sits at the top and each commercial link is marked (Ad) where it appears.

We do not use the words “affiliate”, “aff”, “sp” or “spon” as labels. The advertising regulator’s position is that readers do not reliably understand them, and we agree. We also do not use the phrase “this page may contain affiliate links”, because “may” tells you nothing.

What the commission does not buy

• It does not decide what is recommended. Every product linked from this site was chosen and written about on its merits. On the lens guide, the recommendations were written well before any affiliate arrangement existed.
• It does not decide the order. Comparisons are ordered by camera system and price, never by what pays most.
• It does not stop us saying something is not worth buying. Where we would not recommend a product, we say so, and we do not put a commercial link on it.
• It does not affect the aircraft photography. No article about aircraft, airfields or aviation history carries a commercial link.

Prices

Prices quoted next to a linked product come from the retailer’s own product feed and are in pounds sterling. They were correct on the date given in the notice at the top of the article. Prices move; the retailer’s page is always the authority.

If we get something wrong

If a recommendation here turns out to be wrong, we will change it and say why, rather than quietly leaving it up. That applies whether or not there is a commission attached to it. If you think something on this site is wrong, tell us.

What we do not do

We do not publish sponsored articles written by anyone else. We do not accept payment for a review or for a favourable mention. We do not host third-party commercial content unrelated to aviation photography.
